To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this book.I found it really hard to get into it at first.Characters didn't have the chemistry I expected and things were happening completely out of the blue,making them not quite believable.The first half was a bit slower than I would have liked,not a lot of action going on,thus not giving you the chance to get very excited about what's going to happen next.

However, the second half of the book was completely different from the first.It was fast paced, action packed and you see all the characters playing a vital role to the story and its progression. Teagan is not the kind of the female lead that I usually like, but you can't help but adore her little brother Aiden and his incredible gift.The world that Hamilton created and the mythology around it, is absolutely brilliant!You find yourself getting sucked into a world full of goblins, fairies,sprites, angels,everything you can expect reading a fairy tale and more, leaving your imagination go wild.  Also, I absolutely  loved her humor, which fit nicely,even in a gloomy and somber book such as Tyger,Tyger.

Overall, I enjoyed  reading Tyger,TygerIt is a beautiful fairy tale that gives you the opportunity to explore Hamilton's vast imagination through her amazing writing.I just wish the first half was as exciting as the second, but in general,Tyger Tyger it's a good start to a series and a great debut YA novel.

To say that I loved this book, would probably be the understatement of the year.But I'll go right ahead and say it anyway : I completely and utterly loved this book!!!

There was not the slightest blemish in Elkeles's story and characters.

She(Brittany)-is one of the very few female book characters I like.I like her because she had the courage to admit that she was so unhappy and lonely in her life, even though she seemed to have it all.I like her because of the way she loved and cared for her sister.I like her because she didn't fall into bad boy's arms right from the beginning, thus staying true to herself and not doing something completely out of character.In fact, at the beginning she seems genuinely displeased to be near him in class.I loved that she was Brittany Ellis, from the very start to the every end.

He(Alex)-I like him because he was loving and caring.I like him because he was tough and crude.I like him because he gave up everything to be with the woman he loves.I like him because of the way he cared for her friends, even though he had no obligation to.I like him because he sacrificed himself at a very young age to protect his family.I like him because he is a bad boy.I like him in spite of that.

This is the first book I've read by Elkeles, and I must say that her writing blew me away!I was sad every time I had to put the book down and I was ecstatic when I picked it up again.The narration alternates between Alex's and Brittany's POVs, something I always like in books as it makes writing more fluid and reading more interesting and fun.But what I love most about Elkeles's story is that she wrote about a love so perfect and unique,deriving from BOTH Brittany's and Alex's personal sacrifices.In most books, you see the guy sacrificing everything to be with the girl, to love her and protect her,and she just stands there waiting for it,doing nothing to deserve it.In Perfect Chemistry both Brittany and Alex fought tooth and nail to be together, even if that meant giving up their lives fot it.They wanted it so bad and they did everything in their power to keep it.That was what made this book so amazing:describing a type of love that is never simple and easy,but a love so passionate and strong you'd give your life to keep from dying.

Perfect Chemistry is the best non supernatural YA book of 2010 for me so far.Absolutely brilliant!

READING : The Devouring by Simon Holt

When Reggie finds an old journal and reads about the Vours, supernatural creatures who feast on fear and attack on the eve of the winter solstice, she assumes they are just the musings of some lunatic author. But soon, they become a terrifying reality when she begins to suspect that her timid younger brother might be one of their victims.Risking her life and her sanity, Reggie enters a living nightmare to save the people she loves. Can she devour own her fears before they devour her?

There were stories we used to tell each other when we were kids, for the mere purpose to scare the living crap out of the other person so he or she couldn't sleep at night.I remember trying to come up with these dreadful and creepy creatures,taking into account the other person's fear and taking advantage of it accordingly.

The Devouring is one of those stories.

Reggie is a 15 year old girl, who comes from a broken home:her mother abandoned her and her 8 year old brother a year before the beginning of the story.Apparently, she got scared and run away.Or maybe she was too selfish and she wanted to live her life free of responsibilities.We never really find out why she did it.

The book is basically describing Reggie's struggle to keep her family together after her brother's been taken by Vours, evil smoke-like entities who possess your body and pretend to be you.She loves her brother and she will do anything to get him back, struggling to keep what it's left of her family together.So, she enters the world of the Vours, where her brother's soul is.A psychedelic world,where your worst nightmares and fears come alive.But the more you fear, the more the Vour gets stronger,and Reggie has only one chance to get herself and her brother out of there,before they both lose themselves in the Vour world.

I enjoyed reading The Devouring very much!Don't expect great character developments and many touchy feely scenes,this is a horror book after all, but the story behind it is fantastic!Black smokes, spiders, evil carnivals and clowns(that's freaking scary,right there!),graveyards, elevator coffins, anything you can possibly imagine and are scared of, are in this book.If Stephen King wrote a book when he was a teenager, it could easily be The Devouring!

If you're up for a good horror story, don't miss this one!

One useful tip:don't mistake this book for Young Adult.It belongs to the Horror genre and much deservingly so,since it contains explicit descriptions of gory and macabre scenes.

I already had Declaration in paperback.But since it's my favourite book of 2009-you guys must read it,it's amazing!-I got myself a little treat and bought it in this beautiful hardback edition.

READING : Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

In my opinion, Shiver is the most praised book of the year. Everyone talks about how different this book is and how much it stands out from the rest of the genre.Unfortunately, try as I might-and believe me, I tried-I didn't see that.

What I liked about this book and what is,I believe, the best parts of it are first and foremost, Stiefvater's style of writing which was lyrical and beautiful throughout the whole book and even though I didn't like what she wrote at times,I liked the way she wrote it which I think only great writers can accomplish.And Stiefvater is a great writer, no question about it.I loved how she portrayed Sam,basically a tortured soul who thirsts for a sliver of happiness and when he finds it,he risks dying to keep it.Also the picturesque scenery was ideal for the setting of the story.So, writing aside, there were also three scenes that I absolutely adored and in my opinion, saved the book for me:the one when Sam is about to change but Grace saves him,the one he did change and the ending scene.They were absolutely brilliant, beautiful and heartbreaking. 

What I didn't like was,basically,the rest of the book,.I didn't care a lot for Grace.The ease with which she approaches the wolves(oops, sorry!HER wolf!),even after the traumatic experience she had as a child, made me laugh and not in a good way.Romance does not always have to be squeezed in even when it doesn't fit!It's a big book, could have happened later.

The characters that surrounded the couple did just that,surrounded and shadowed the leads, hovering over them aimlessly.Especially Grace's parents who granted, were weird, but were very easily accused of being horrible people and not caring about Grace at all, which was totally wrong in my opinion.

Last but not least, what this book lacks in is action.Nothing action like or remotely action like happens in this book.You think when the book is about werewolves, you could at least indulge in a badass fight or two.But there was none of that.Everything was about Sam's and Grace's love and how to keep Sam from turning,which was not at all bad,but it gets old and boring very quickly.

Overall, I think Shiver was a nice read,and that's it. I will definitely read the next one, trying to have no expectations whatsoever about it.Fans of Twilight will surely love this,as Shiver was peculiarly similar to it .Definitely not the writing but the story is pretty much the same,minus vampires.If I wanted to read something like Twilight I wouldn't buy another novel, I'd just re read Twilight. But that's just me :)

First Emily, Aria, Hanna and Spencer claimed they found a dead body in the woods behind Spencer's house, only to have it vanish without a trace.Then, when the same woods went up in flames, they swore they saw someone who's supposed to be dead rise from the ashes.And even after all that, the pretty little liars are still playing with fire.Call me heartless, but it's about time someone shut these liars up for good.After all, nobody likes a girl who cries wolf-least of all me...~A.

Heartless, being  the penultimate installment in the PLL series, places us one step away from the end,from the big revelation of Ali's killer and A's identity.

Overall, it was a great book.However, I didn't enjoy it like the previous two because I felt there was always something happening that annoyed me and I ended up rolling my eyes a lot.Things like Aria's new boyfriend.I thought Shepard played the younger boyfriend card once with Hanna and Mike, which I also didn't like.But in Heartless she does it again with Aria and a secret someone who she never liked and now she suddenly does.It felt very weird,sudden and not believable at all.Also the situation with Spencer's family,too far fetched in my opinion.It was a big secret to keep for so long and I'd like it if something was mentioned about it in the previous books and not just dumb this huge bomb out of the blue,especially when we're one book away from the end.

That being said,there were some aspects of the book I really liked. In Heartless,Shepard tried something different.She "split" the girls up,so each one can have her individual story and her own theory of what happened to Ali.So basically, there were four different stories from which the girls learned precious information about Ali and the mystery surrounding her death making their own conclusions,each completely different from the other and more believable than the other.It's sounds chaotic and it is a little bit.You end up learning so many crucial things but you still can't figure it out and it drives you insane!I loved that!

Most of all, I loved Emily's story.Don't get me wrong,I still don't like Emily's character.Especially in Heartless she whines endlessly about how giving herself to Isaac proved to be an awful mistake because he was a jerk and now she regrets it all.Well, he is not a jerk, you just have an inferiority complex and you had fun with a guy you claimed you loved.I don't think it's something to cry and obsess over.However, I liked her story in this book because it was something I never saw coming and I hope Shepard will put it to good use in the end and that it was not all for nothing.

A great book, not amazing, but great nonetheless, Heartless leaves you buzzing ,preparing you for the much anticipated and shocking finale.

One useful tip : Another person gets murdered by the end of the book.Wanna guess who it is? :)

The Forest Of Hands A Teeth takes place in a world where fear and desperation reign.People,the last remaining of the human race it seems like, live in a secluded village in the middle of a forest surrounded by wired fences.Fences that keep out the Unconsecrated,zombie like creatures that can tear out your flesh making you one of theirs, along with the people's dreams and hopes for another life,a better life.

I will start by saying that Ryan's writing is brilliant. Everything she writes is so disturbingly believable, that you feel as though there is such a village in the middle of a forest somewhere in the world and you hurt when you think of the poor people that are trapped there.She wrote the character's relationships exceptionally well, especially Mary and Travis's.The last scene with Mary and Travis is so heartbreaking,it almost made me cry.

There is no doubt that Mary is the lead character in TFOHAT.The book is written in first person,from her POV, so all action and emotion that fill this book is hers or about her.

Her life is doomed from the day she was born.A free spirit,Mary cannot imagine herself compromising or settling with anything.She does not love the man that is to become her husband but his brother,Travis,who she knows she cannot have.However,when she gets what she wants she is still not satisfied and wants to find more,to explore,because she doesn't dare to believe that that is all there is for her.Travis loves her, tries to explain to her that she doesn't need anything else when she has him at her side and she doesn't have to go fixing all the wrong in the world, it's not her responsibility.But then he understands and supports her,realising that he wants the exact same things as her and that he is too ashamed to admit that he is not as brave as Mary to make them happen. When humanity is hanging by a thread,in a place where hopes are shattered at birth,Mary has the nerve to dream of another world out there where she can live without the Unconsecrated's moans constantly ringing in her ear, without the perpetual fear of dying and loss.She dreams of the ocean and that she will do anything to get there,almost forgetting about the consequences and the people around her.That costs her dearly but still she wants to pursue her dream, not stopping for a second to think about it.I will not say that I relate to Mary,quite the opposite.I don't even think I like her all that much.But I find her determination, her strong will and her inability to quit even though the world as she knows it is no more,admirable and heroic,to say the least.

I really,really liked this book.I know most people regard it as another zombie book, but it's much more than that.It's a wonderful tale of dreams, hopes,love and compassion told brilliantly by Ryan.It's a must read!

One useful tip : This book is more on the gloomy,depressing side and it's not for the weak hearted.If you're looking for a light,happy read,this is definitely NOT it!

Pretty Little Liars Pilot Review

I was waiting so long for the pilot of PLL,since I am a huge fan of the books, and I must admit, I am little bit disappointed.

I'll try not to compare the series to the books much.I don't think I have to really since,the pilot at least,was very similar to the book.Only Jenny's last name is changed and the time period between Ali's disappearance and the "present".

However,as I watching I had the constant feeling I was watching 5 episodes all shoved into one.Anyone who has read the books will get what I am saying.I don't know if I would understand  anything that went on if I hadn't read the books beforehand.But maybe I'd enjoy it more if I hadn't read the books.I really don't know.

I didn't like any of the guys.Well, maybe Ezra a little bit,if he got rid of that stupid haircut!I think the best looking one was Mike,Aria's brother, and we didn't get to see much of his face!Ian...OMG Ian was awful!!In case you don't remember, he is Melissa's,Spencer's sister's,boyfriend from Spencer's flashback.First of all,Ian is blonde.I know you think it's a minor detail, but trust me,it's really not.Anyway,guy-wise it was a let down.Also, a guy that plays a major role in the books was not introduced.Maybe later on.

Now, the girls.I like Spencer.I like the girl they cast for her role,even though I never thought I would.She is not the out of this world beauty,which Ali is supposed to be(which she so isn't,btw) and I think she is exactly as she is described in the books.Well, apart from the blonde hair.What do they have against blondes??Dunno!

The girl who plays Emily is OK, but not at all who I would have picked.The other I have no problem with yet.

Plot was really a mess.Everything was happening so fast, Ali's disappearing, Aria and Ezra's alleged relationship,Emily confiding so easily in Maya, a girl she just met(same goes with Aria and Ezra),and in general the whole episode, especially the first half, was a blur.I know they are trying to fit everything in 10 episodes but I think they've overdone it.Also, do you know if the first season is supposed to be about the first book or more,because if that's the case,and judging from the first episode,I don't think I'll like it much.

But there is no need to jump into conclusions.There are 9 episodes ahead, we'll just have to wait and see where this whole thing is headed.

Awesome,brilliant,amazing!!!

Killer is another great installment(No.6) in the Pretty Little Liars series.

It picks up exactly after Wicked left off.Aria is still trying to cope with her mother's new love interest while finding one of her own,Hanna wants to prove once and for all that she is the queen bee by choosing to date someone you never thought she'd date,Emily comes head to head with her new beloved's mother and their family's beliefs and Spencer....just does something really, really bad.

I really loved this book!I cannot believe that the series is still going strong after the 4th book which appeared to hold the conclusion to the story.But the story has not faltered one bit,I can safely say it's even better now!Shepard's writing drags you in and is so addictive that there is no way you'll put the book down before it's finished.It's taunting and tormenting,especially when you think of so many possible suspects that your brain is about to blow up!So many things are happening,situations keep changing, things that you thought were solid are starting to collapse and people you had in mind as suspects are completely innocent.You're always changing your opinion about who really did kill Ali, 

never really deciding even after the book is over.

The only thing that put me off a teeny tiny bit is Hanna's sudden and no way anticipated,date.She never really expressed any romantic feeling toward him,in fact she said in previous books that she didn't like that kind of guys.I don't know, it seemed a little rushed and awkward.I secretly wished she stayed together with Lucas.Also, what's up with that?When will people stop breaking up so...easily?Come on, talk to each other, discuss and then decide.You're supposed to be with a person that you love,you at least owe him/her that.

Overall, I thought this book was fantastic and I can't wait for Heartless!

One useful tip:The book ends with a ginormous cliffhanger, the biggest in PLL history!

Pretty Little Liars Challenge

Well, if this is not an unbelievable coincidence, I don't know what is!

I've bought the Pretty Little Liars (PLL) box set a few months ago and I started reading it thanks to I Heart Monster's amazing PLL read along.I just could not stop after that and I am proud to say I have read up until book 5 in the series(finished it today!)and I am currently reading book 6, Killer.

Trisha from Trisha's Book Blog has recently commented on my IMM post and I went to check out her blog.Going through it,I spotted a picture of Pretty Little Liars hovering at the top right of her blog, and I immediately clicked on it.As it turned out it it was a PLL challenge (who would have thought? :) Naturally,I decided to participate and I urge you to do the same!

To be honest, I was hesitant to read Wicked because after A. has been revealed and Ali's murderer caught,I could not imagine how could the story continue without being boring and repeatable. Thankfully,I was wrong.Granted,there are some known patterns that Shepard is using to unravel her story,constantly having to do with the girls' love interests and them going,not surprisingly,wrong.Also, another A.?Seems kinda old.Plus,how does the new A.know all the girls' secrets and can be at all these different places at once?

I know questions like that frustrate readers and eventually they lose interest in the books.I thought I'd feel that way,too,but surprisingly I don't.I like not having a clue who the new A.is,although I have some "suspects" in mind.But Shepard's writing is so cunning and meandering,that you can never be sure of anything you read.In fact,the more sure you are about something,the more certain it is that it will come crumbling down.That's what I like about this series from the beginning and Wicked did not disappoint.I am not gonna dwell into character development and so on.I'm just gonna say that Hanna,I think,is the one character that changed the most throughout the series,at least, up until this point,and she is my new favourite!Also not gonna summarize the book or write details about the plot,because it would ruin it for you guys,and I really don't wanna do that.It's for you to read and enjoy :)

If you decided to stop reading after Unbelievable,I really hope you change your mind,because Wicked is just as awesome!

One useful tip:MAJOR thing's happening at the end of the book, leaving us with a semi-cliffhanger.
